Five Forms of Text

Social Media Posts:

Whether in text or image form, social media updates are a type of text that are constantly interacted with and very much alive. Like it or not, social media updates are a huge part of human activity in the 21st century. Most of us check our Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. feeds constantly and interact with others by commenting and sharing others' ideas.

Street Art:

Street art is a form of text that forces passersby to observe the text and judge what the artist's purpose is. Some street art is just basic vandalism but other artists like Banksy and Shepard Fairey have proper messages for the public and take huge risks to mount their art in places where a lot of people will be forced to look at the art and make an assessment. Banksy has a huge following and people admire his messages.

Statistics:

Statistics are a form of text that are really important and constantly updated and followed. My favorite type is sports statistics, the little boxes that pop up next to players and give you a better grasp on their performance and progress. If you follow a sports team or play any fantasy sports game, you probably interact with statistics a lot more than you would have imagined.

Online Newspapers:

Online newspapers are a fairly new type of text but a lot more relevant to people in the internet age. I honestly can't recall the last time I read a print newspaper. Online papers are a bit less reliable but you can access new stories within seconds of them breaking and can share stories and videos easily with your friends. They are very accessible and alive today.

Blog Feeds:

A popular form of text is blog feeds. People can follow celebrity blog feeds, clothing stores' blog feeds, or just their friends' blog feeds. Blogs can contain text, images, or even a series of videos. They're often constantly updated and closely followed.
